Mentor project draft assignments

These are two draft mentor project assignments which will be given in weight training and chemistry in the next weeks.

MENTOR PROJECT Draft 1
(weight training)

  1. Lesson Planning – You will need to show the ability, given the current level of fitness and technique from the students in your class, to make a lesson plan that can be taught to your class.

  1. Evaluating – You will need to be able to properly evaluate the technique of the lifts from your lesson plan.

  1. Peer Teaching – You will be able to lead a class during the set-up, work, and clean-up.

You will be graded on the following criteria:

1.      Knowledge of the students ability
2.      The ability to “put it into their words” so they understand
3.      Sequence a lesson properly
4.      Show student understanding of directions

5.      Describe expectations for the days lessons.  What do you want them to accomplish today?




MENTOR PROJECT Draft 1
(chemistry year one)


  1. Lesson Planning – You will make a short lesson plan that can be taught to your class.  Pick a topic from the next unit in Chemistry.  Check with me for assistance.  Develop a short lesson which you can present to the class.  Develop a short worksheet that they can complete and you can grade after your presentation that helps them learn the topic you choose/devise with me.

  1. Evaluating – You will need to be able to properly evaluate that the class learned what you are teaching.

  1. Peer Teaching – You will have an opportunity to lead the class for between 15 and 30 minutes and help them learn a topic you choose.


You will be assessed on the following criteria:

1.      Presentation of your topic
2.      The ability to “put it into their words” so they understand
3.      Sequence a lesson properly
4.      Show student understanding of your content, via the worksheet you make.
5.      Describe expectations for the days lesson.  What do you want them to accomplish today? Make sure to do this a the start of your presentation.
